Full Spec Here
So your after a mountain bike, and you have around £500 to spend. You go and look around the shops and what do you find? A lot of drab and dreary grey toned bikes with not much spec on it. Then you see the Scott range, and this Yellow and Red Aspect 750 jumps out at you. With it's hydro formed alloy tubing, matching fork stickers and slick looks you instantly want it, and even better, it's only £549.99!
With Syncros parts laced throughout, your getting a decent build kit on what would normally have a no name part on it. Yes, Syncros is still Scotts brand, but independently has made a name for itself producing quality parts from Stems to Wheel sets and everything in between. And featuring their aftermarket Seat, Seat Post, Bars and Stem on the bike lends a higher end look to what is still a £550 bike.
Using Shimano componentry for the rest of the bike the Aspect 750 comes out as a well rounded capable machine. Using the Altus Shadow Rear Mech on the rear with 8 speeds to select, A Shimano crankset up front with sealed cartridge BB and triple speed you end up with 24 gears of Shimano goodness. All silky smooth and not missing a beat thanks to that Shadow rear mech, which has a shifted pivot point and tighter spring making it less likely to jump gears. Integrated into the shifters is the Shimano Hydraulic Brakes, which look very tidy when grouped with the shifter. These power the classic BR-315 Hydraulic calipers that almost every bike comes with. These take the standard Shimano pad aswell.
We offer Finance or parts as well as bikes if you want to freshen up your ride.

Full Spec Here
The main reasons for people choosing electric bikes now is not to make a ride easier but to make a ride longer! With a bike like this you can go out and not have to worry that your going to use all your energy up on one climb, so this enables you to ride further, longer and higher! Moving onto to main specification's of this bike:
The Moterra 3 comes with the Bosch Performance CX 250W Motor. The world's most advanced e-MTB system. The most powerful unit Bosch makes, now with new 'eMTB' ride mode. This update replaces Sport mode and allows the system to automatically deliver the right amount of support, from 120 to 300 per cent, to match the needs of the terrain, no need to switch modes. Full support is available as soon as you step on the pedals, for easy hill starts and a totally natural ride-feel. This Is the same across the whole range from the base model like this to the top model. The Moterra 3 is also fitted with full Shimano Deore Shadow rear mech, Deore 10 speed cassette and shifter. Same as the gearing you have Shimano Deore brakes to match. Moving onto the suspension this is fitted out with Rockshox Sektor silver RL 130mm and Rockshox Monarch rear shock 130mm. This is a very good suspension set up for and entry level electric bike because this bike is aimed more at someone who isn't after loads of travel but enough for most UK trail centers, all this along with the dropper post installed from factory the Moterra has all the goods you need to shred the trails in style.
We offer Finance or parts as well as bikes if you want to freshen up your ride.

<![CDATA[2018 CANNONDALE CAADX 105 SE]]>Sun, 24 Dec 2017 14:04:07 GMThttp://alansbikes.com/blog/2018-cannondale-caadx-105-se
For 2018 Cannondale have brought out a couple of Special Edition (or SE) bikes in a couple of their ranges, and here we have the CAADX 105 SE edition.

There is a few notable changes between the regular CAADX 105 and the SE version. Most notably is the color, with the SE sporting an Anthracite finish and tan wall tyres compared to the regular 105 models Silver (shown below).
Picture
The Regular CAADX 105 color
Along with a color difference there is actually a reason for the price difference. With Cannondales own Si crankset making an appearance meaning a wider gearing ratio with its 48/32 FSA rings compared to the 46/36 setup on the regular 105 CAADX making it a much more suitable road commuter and even better offroad with its slightly more spinny lower gears as both have an 11-speed 11-32 block on the rear.

Another key difference is the WTB Riddler tyres on the SE version, making tubeless instantly an option without having to buy new tyres or rims, as its also specced with WTB's STP i19 TCS 28 hole tubeless ready rims.

So for £100 difference you are getting a significant upgrade in spec overall for not much money. Seems like its definitely worth it.

<![CDATA[2018 Scott Scale RC JR24]]>Thu, 23 Nov 2017 15:50:59 GMThttp://alansbikes.com/blog/2018-scott-scale-rc-jr24
The new 2018 Scott Spark RC Jr24 looks absolutely amazing. At first glance it looks like a high end adults bike but on closer inspection its been scaled down for a junior fit with 24 inch wheels, a rigid fork and hydro brakes, all for only £599.99.

The bike comes equipped with parts from SRAM, Tektro, Schwalbe and Syncros. Parts like the GX rear mech and NX cranks from SRAM set this apart from any other 24 inch bike, it even includes a Narrow-Wide chainring, most adults bikes at the same price don't even come with that! Along with the higher end SRAM gearing the bike also comes with Tektro hydraulic brakes which from our experience are super reliable and use easy to get replace brake pads. For tires Schwalbe has been used with a set of 24 inch Smart Sams that a few of our customers use and swear by for all year traction even when it does get a bit greasy. Finishing it off is a lot of Syncros parts. Stem, Seat, Bars and Wheels.

It doesn't get better than this, and at £599.99 your not paying a premium for it being a junior sized bike. Its better spec than most adults bikes at the same price!

This Scott is available on our Ride it Away 0% APR finance subject to availability, so pop into the shop and speak to the team!

<![CDATA[Cujo vs Sellafield]]>Thu, 13 Apr 2017 19:51:47 GMThttp://alansbikes.com/blog/cujo-vs-sellafield
Just back from a tough week , demo riding the 2017 Cannondale Cujo 3, and cooking my own tea.
In between the day job.
Its your fairly basic spec 27.5+ fat tyred hardtail.
Burly aluminium frame , with a Shimano 2x9 ( 9x2 ? , 18 speed ) drivetrain.
If you are looking for a decent , fuss free mountainbike , that is pretty versatile , this is worth considering.
Grip from the tyres is awesome , and the large volume goes a long way to increasing comfort/ offroad capability.
The overall diameter is about the same as a 29er , so it bobs along very nicely.
They are the type of bike that are nipping at the heels of a full susser , with less maintenance issues.
I've been up on the Cumbrian coast with work , so its been an evening antidote to the days travails.
Nothing too hardcore , but with the tyre pressure low , I did some pebble-y beach stupidity , and then , pumped up harder , some roadie / offroad hoofs , taking in the ridiculous climb up to St Bees cliffs , for a sunset view of Snaefell.
Bike performed flawlessly.
I walked a bit. It was SO steep , the front wheel was lifting .
Its important to get the tyres right on these bikes.
I've had some that are less than good , and replacements are dearer than a ' regular ' MTB .
Fortunately then , these seem pretty good.
Not great in mud , but thats more to do with the width , than anything else. They float on top.
Not cyclocross.
Anyway,
Lovely serene place.
Last night , on the road to St Bees , I was passed by one car.
Heading back , in the other direction an hour or so later , one car.
The same one.
I hit 40odd MPH . Which was tasty.
Not as tasty as my Tuna/Pasta/Pesto bullshit, though.
This bike is available to demo via your local friendly bike retailer , Alans Bikes.
For details , call the shop on 01942826598.
I cant really fault it.
The bars are a modern width. i.e./too wide.
Easily fixed.
Its an entry level (£750) bike , that you can do " proper " MTBing on , that isnt out of place knocking out some miles.Cannondale 2017 Cujo 3 27 Plus Mountain Bike Neon Spring
