OK so I've ridden a CAADX for the past few years, mostly as a commuter with a bit of hard-surface off-road and I went straight from a 2016 Sora to a 2017 Sora so I can make a direct comparison between the two.
First off the '17 has a long-awaited frame and fork upgrade with internal cable routing and it just looks a lot more modern, as the old frame was getting a bit long in the tooth compared to the competition. As far as the ride goes, it immediately feels shorter in the front and certainly climbs really well. The new shifters too feel considerably better. For a Sora equipped bike, shifting is superb. If you are a groupies snob who won't go with anything below 105 I urge you to try one of these, the action is superb. This year they switched the venerable Sammy Slick tyres for the Rapid Rob which have proper off road capability and despite their knobby appearance are actually smooth on the road. You can only feel the tread while cornering but ultimately if you used these on the road all the time you'd wear the tread down. No problem with us of course because we offer a no-cost option of the Sammy Slick if you prefer, or most of our customers pay the difference to upgrade to Marathon Plus for the extra puncture protection. Everything else worked superb, the saddle I swapped out for a Fabric Scoop, as the stock one just doesn't have any flex in the base. Maybe some gel bar tape for comfort but everything worked spot on. The CAADX Sora retails at £899.99, please contact us for a quote either for an outright purchase or a cycle scheme. Any questions call ion store or phone us on 01942 826598. This 51cm test bike as shown here is available at just £699.99.
